Christmas Carol Service 2019
On 17th December the Ethelbert Lodge held it's annual Carol Service.
As always it was well attended by brethren, partners, friends and families.
The service was opened by W.Bro. Reg Millsom, our Worshipful Master.
W.Bro. Steve Claringbold lead the service with his usual interesting facts and observations regarding the Christmas period.
We started by singing some favourite Carols which was followed by our first reading.
This was presented in a most excellent way by Jessica Toomey, the young daughter of Bro. Frank Toomey.
Jessica followed the reading by singing the first verse of "Away in a Manger" on her own, accapella. We all then joined in afterwards.
The second reading was given by Mrs. Marian Miller, wife of our I.P.M. W.Bro. Mac Miller, followed again by carols.
The third reading was jointly presented, again in an excellent manner, by Poppy and Ruby, granddaughters of our Treasurer Bro. Jim Campbell.
The fourth and final reading was given by Mrs. Cheryl Millsom, wife of our W.M. W.Bro. Reg Millsom.
Once again, Bro. William Mead, ably provided the musical accompaniment.
Following a most enjoyable Carol Service, everyone adjourned to the dining area. There, a buffet awaited, after which we were treated to a bumper raffle which, thanks to the gererosity of everyone present, raised a considerable sum for charity.
During the evening Father Christmas also paid a visit and presented all the children with a gift.
Finally, after the traditional singing of the ever popular "Twelve Days of Christmas", everyone raised a glass to our Worshipful Master, Reg Millsom and his wife Cheryl, to wish them a Happy Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
