One Hundred and Thirty Fifth Installation Meeting
Tuesday 8th October 2019 saw the one hundred and thirty fifth Installation Meeting of the Ethelbert Lodge
As always, it was well attended by guests and visitors.
W. Bro. Terry Mcglone, PProvSGW, attended as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master .
Before the proceedings began, W.Bro. Cliff Norris read a eulogy for a past member of the Lodge, W. Bro. Ron Sansom. (Click here to read the eulogy.)
It was an extra special event for our Master Elect, W. Bro. Reg Millsom, on his second time of being installed in the Chair of King Solomon.
He was was ably installed by W.Bro. Dennis Fordham of the South Kent Lodge 4303, and W.Bro. Ernest "Mac" Miller, the outgoing Worshipful Master.
W. Bro. Dennis Fordham, was the Worshipful Master who Initiated, Passed and Raised our Master Elect in the South Kent Lodge 4303 way back in 2005.
It is very unusual for a mason who is not a member of a Lodge to install the new Master. However the brethren of the Ethelbert Lodge 2099, realising the significance to W.Bro. Reg and W.Bro. Dennis, graciously gave their consent, and more importantly, the Installing Master, W.Bro. Ernest “Mac” Miller, generously stood aside for that part of the ceremony.
In addition, W.Bro. Reg's proposer, W. Bro. Mick Smith, aka Miki Travis, was there there too.
(Coincidentally, W.Bro. Dennis Fordham was W.Bro. Mick Smith’s proposer.)
The new Master then proceeded to invest his Officers after which the usual Lodge business was transacted, which included a sucessful ballot for a new member, then closed.
Once again it was good to see some Brethren progressing though the offices, whilst other members took office once again to support the Lodge, the Worshipful Master and brethren.
We wish them all well for the forthcoming year, as we do the new Master.
There followed a Festive Board which was enjoyed by all and W.Bro. Mick Smith gave a very entertaing response on behalf of the visitors.
W. Bro. Millsom can look forward to a promising and enjoyable year ahead, fully supported by his officers and Lodge members.
