Christmas Carol Service 2018
On 18th December the Ethelbert Lodge held it's annual Carol Service.
As always it was well attended by brethren, partners, friends and families.
The service was opened by W.Bro. Ian Firth-Clark, representing our Worshipful Master, who was unable to attend due to some health issues.
W.Bro. Steve Claringbold lead the service with his usual interesting facts and observations regarding the Christmas period.
Carols were sung and readings given by W.Bro. Ian Firth Clark, W.Bro. Reg Millsom, Mrs. Alison Douglas and Mrs. Cheryl Millsom.
Our newest member, Bro. William Mead, ably provided the musical accompaniment, which he did very skillfully.
Following a most enjoyable Carol Service, everyone adjourned to the dining area. There a fish and chip supper awaited, after which we were treated to a festive quiz and a bumper raffle. Thanks to the gererosity of everyone present £200 was raised for charity.
During the evening a cheque for £50 was presented, on behalf of the L.O.I. Charity Fund to Mrs. Samantha Toomey for the Leggo Builders Club, a local charity.
Finally, after the traditional singing of the ever popular "Twelve Days of Christmas", everyone raised a glass to our Worshipful Master, Ernest "Mac" Miller and his wife Marian, to wish them a Happy Christmas and Mac's speedy recovery and return to the Lodge.
